DAISSY
Originally conceived as a project to create ID cards sharing stories linked to prevailing stereotypes about black people, DAISSY evolved into a dynamic initiative fostering self-reflection and mutual learning. The primary purpose is to immerse the reader in an experience of grappling with stereotypes and the tendency to categorize individuals. Embracing discomfort becomes imperative when confronting these ingrained structures. The collection reflects the intricate struggles within the black experience—an ongoing journey through generations, urging society to be accountable. It serves as a call to embrace discomfort, encouraging a shift in perspective by temporarily adopting the role of one who labels individuals. It aims to navigate entrenched structures and question prevailing notions, advocating for recognition of the profound impact of Western lenses on black lives.
